Have you ever thought of a really good idea for a blog post, only to forget about it by the time you come to write it?
Don’t let this happen to you – write your ideas down as you think of them. Here are some tips to help you along the way.
Get a Notebook. Take it Everywhere.
If you want to make sure you never miss a post idea again, carry a small notebook and pen everywhere you. Girls with bags can probably pull this off a bit more easily than us guys, who will probably need to wear clothes with deep pockets.
Now, whenever you think of a post idea, whip out the book and write it down. Don’t worry if people stare at you; after all, you’re looking out for your blog, not what random people think of you.
Have Planning Days.
Have you ever been on one of those “away days” where you go off to some activity centre with work colleagues, brainstorm various ways to improve the workplace, then come back and find that nothing changes? I’ve been on a few of those!
Why not take the idea and apply it to your blog? Take time out from writing the actual content of your posts, and instead, work on some post titles. Go crazy, list as many as you can within 15 minutes. Keep going if you can – there’s no need to stop if you’re on a roll.
If you want to organise things a bit, you could set yourself a target of 10 post titles in each of your categories. As an added bonus, this will get you to tidy up your blog categories if you have too many.
How do you keep track of new post ideas?
